About the I Heart Title III-B Coalition
The I Heart Title III-B Coalition is a voluntary, informal, grassroots collection of stakeholders, advocates, and Aging Network professionals with a deep passion and appreciation for the services to older adults that are provided under Title III-B of the Older Americans Act. We are reaching out to like minded individuals and organizations to join in the advocacy movement to promote, brand, and grow Title III-B services. The Coalition was inspired by the work of Michigan's Silver Key Coalition (www.silverkeycoalition.com), which was successful in advocating for a 40% increase in state general funds ($11.1 Million) for in-home services (Including Meals on Wheels) allocated through its State Unit on Aging over a four year period.
The formation of the Coalition was launched in February of 2018 through the efforts of Christine Van Landingham, Fund and Product Development Officer for the Region IV Area Agency on Aging in St. Joseph Michigan, and Jim McGuire, Director of Research, Policy Development and Advocacy with the Area Agency on Aging 1-B in Southfield Michigan, in consultation with the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging.
